Inspired

Really getting inspired by Jeremyville's mentality to creativity. The bloke does stuff that makes him happy, and I think that is to be admired. I want to be part of something that makes a bunch of eclectic work. Hopefully me and Simone can make that happen with a little side project we are planning. I'll keep you posted.
In the meantime, read this article about Jeremyville.

Life lessons
Right, this is a blog; a bit of light reading, so I won't burden you with deep heavy thoughts from me. However, today I had a bit of a rubbish day and now I have one of those shoulda/woulda/coulda moments. In essence I was in the wrong, but at the same time I think I was kind of right. In other words I have no idea what happened. But I will learn from it nonetheless.

Yay 2

Another rubbish photo, but another pencil doodle for Rockstar Wars. Just got to draw some more and then ink them all up.

Yay
So I'm redoing my Rockstar Wars doodles because I didn't like the way I did them in Portland. I thought I was going to go with a messier style, but after pages and pages of doodles in my sketchbook (ok, a few) I decided that it wasn't really working for me. So I went super tidy again. Anyway, today I doodled a preliminary sketch, and I quite like it. Sorry the photo is a bit wack.

I like how it looks in pencil, but it is just too 'weak'. I was going to go over it in ink, but instead I think I'll get some nice marker paper tomorrow and redraw it onto that. At least that way if I mess it up I wont ruin the sketch. Just need to get my hands on some super fine micro pens.

Lazy Saturday Afternoon
A bit like that Small Faces song, but a day early. I've had my sleep in, and ice skating is out of the question seeing as though it hasn't stopped raining for ages. So I'm going to sit in with my housemates and eat kit kats, doodle in my sketchbook, try and design some more letter forms for my typefaces Willdings and Typefaeces, and generally just make stuff. Today is going to be great.

Following me here, follow me there
So do you follow this blog through the NetworkedBlogs or through the Google Follow thing? Or do you just not follow this blog at all, and get on with your sweet life in the real world? Well, you should probably do the latter, but I put the NetworkedBlogs option up on the side there because you need a gmail account to do the google one. And I don't discriminate, ya hear?

I love Google
I set up Google Analytics the other day and it is bloody ace! Now I can see who goes on my blog and my portfolio, how they got there, how long they were there for, where they are from...

Stuff
Well I have a few days off, which is rather lovely I must say. I managed a pretty amazing sleep in this morning, and now I'm about to do a bit of doodling and possibly a spot of type design.
I'm super looking forward to starting at Mother on Monday though. A few of the guys at WCRS gave me some advice and the place sounds amazing: the office space is unreal.

I'm not an office snob by any means, but I cannot wait to get away from the fluorescent lamps of the typical office and start thinking creatively in a space like this. Ex-Mother folk have told me that the building is infectious, and it gets under your skin. You start getting to work early and leaving late. And because you are working in a different kind of environment you start thinking in a different way.
If all that is true, Monday cannot come quick enough.

The day is coming to an end
These are my last few hours at WCRS. I had a good few weeks here, and I am proper excited about going to Mother on Monday. And my fiancée's visa arrives today! Boom! This is going to be a pretty amazing Christmas I reckon.

Probably the end.
Well, this is the final week of my placement here at WCRS. I have proper enjoyed pitching for new business, and obviously I hope this agency win. I have seen how much thinking they have put behind this work (and I have done a fair bit of it myself). It would be super nice to get hired now that I have done some stuff for them, but in this rubbish economy that we currently have, I won't hold my breath. Still, miracles can happen, or so the late night, high-numbered cable channels tell me. Hallelujah.
Anyway, who knows what the future holds. Next week I have the opportunity to go and work for three months at Mother. Still, I kind of thought that placements wouldn't be appropriate after being one of the '12 most creative people on the planet.' I was wrong.

I'm going to need your support
Yes, I really really will. You see, last night I started to research and design two typefaces, and they are going to take quite a while to complete. The first one was born out of a typo I made about a year ago, and it made me smile: I am going to design Typefaeces. Yes, I really do think that is the best type name I have ever heard, and yes, it is a typeface made out of poo. So if you are out one day and you see a pretty interesting piece of poo (dog or otherwise) please take a photo and email it to me, especially if it is letter form-esque.
The second typeface is for my own use, and is a bit of a portfolio piece I guess. Seeing as though my portfolio is stuffihavedone.com and my blog is stuffimightdo.com, I am creating a stuff face called Willdings. It will be made out of everyday objects; the things that I like. It should say a lot about me. It will be a very random typeface that will probably only work for headlines, but I think the randomness of it will be it's charm. I'm just wondering, do you think that the letter forms should be made out of objects that begin with that letter? Or is that irrelevant? I know that it will be a lot harder to create the typeface if the object for K has to begin with the letter K, and the same for Q or G or J.

Harry Brown

Thanks to Esquire magazine, last night I had the chance to go and see a screening of Michael Caine's new film, Harry Brown. Holy sweet sausage balls, it was good. I had to turn away from the hardcore drug scenes, I jumped far too many times, and I thought it was fantastic. Do not take your mother.
Good news
Today I found out that I have a contingency plan, and boy do I love contingency plans. It's not set in stone yet though. Well, actually it is set in stone, but I need to see what happens prior to the stone being put into motion. Confused? I know; me too.
